LIBERTINE

S/S 2016

What don’t we love about Libertine? We were dazzled by the Spring/Summer 2016 collection shown during New York Fashion Week. Libertine creative Johnson Hartig gave us appliqués galore! The whimsical patches were thrown on everything, including coats, dresses, and a dramatic cape. There was a gorgeous long, green evening coat overloaded with appliqués, as well as a too-cute white jacket shown with skinny cigarette pants. The overall feel of the collection had a sixties/seventies vibe, but with a Libertine twist. Hartig gave us both men’s and women’s silver sequined tracksuits, which shimmered down the runway as if disco balls had been brought to life. There was a trio of printed flowing kaftans that will demand attention at any hip, summer pool party. Chunky, neon chain links adorned clothing, bracelets and shoes.  And then there was the unforgettable chain link vest that closed the show. However, our very favorite look had to be the “Spaghetti Suit” that had appliqués that consisted of forks with beaded dangling spaghetti. Delicious! It left us craving more Libertine.
