THE BLONDS F/W 2015

THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE

Design duo Phillipe and David Blond have always mesmerized us with their fabulous creations. This season the Blonds paid homage to directors Alejandro Jodorowsky and Stanley Kubrick. But it was Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” references that really caught our eye as the collection opened with strong black and white looks. Staples included their beautiful embellished bodysuits and catsuits accessorized with glamorous furs by Helen Yarmak (the bright orange one with multiple tails had us on the floor), as well as the most stupendous Christian Louboutin boots. We must note a dazzling “camouflage” jacket and pant comprised of amoebic shaped foil pieces, reminiscent of the great Paco Rabanne. Of course, no Blonds show goes without their trademark over-the-top big hair. And this season was no different, with beautiful 60s inspired, waist-length, backcombed hair by Kien Hoang for Oribe. Makeup was once again provided by the genius of Kabuki for M.A.C. Pro Team, characterized by a sensational winged black and white eye and a soft pale pink lip. These frocks could never be considered ready-to-wear, but rather “in-your-face” stage wear for glittery superstars. And we’re just fine with that! Photography Alexander Thompson. http://theblonds.nyc/
