YEAH! NEW YORK

KAREN O STYLE

Back in 2000, a young and high-spirited musician known as Karen O burst onto the underground New York City music scene. With a very unique and powerful voice, as well as a rebellious stage presence, young, hip girls and guys became in awe of the lead singer from Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. Her eclectic costumes, designed by the sensation known as Christian Joy, were topped with that signature Johnny Ramone bowl hair cut which gave her a distinct look. She and the band created their own voice – the voice of a new generation.

We took Karen O’s style and exuberance as our inspiration for this latest womenswear editorial. Ponyboy stylist Xina Giatas stated, “I loved mixing the traditionally masculine fabrics and darker colors with the feminine form. The outcome was a powerful sensuality, just as Karen O embodies”.
