Gustav von Aschenbach is the highly anticipated menswear project created by New York City designer Robert Geller. In usual Geller fashion, the designer did not disappoint.
German born designer Robert Geller chose a very bold military inspired vision for his latest collection for Autumn/Winter 2017.
Robert Geller never ceases to amaze us here at Ponyboy. His casual, yet avant-garde collections are never boring and he is always a step ahead of the rest.
As enthusiastic followers of New York menswear designer Robert Geller, we were extremely excited to be covering his Fall/Winter collection at Pier 59 Studios. The show was a sensation, as models walked a long runway backed by a chain-link fence, while Echo & the Bunnymen’s “Nocturnal Me” blasted loudly. Key looks for the 1920s Olympic fencing wear inspired collection included cropped pleated trousers, mock necks, elegant wool overcoats, parkas with large collars, broad horizontal stripes, wife beaters, suspenders, netted gloves and layers, lots of layers. Though the hues remained characteristic of Fall, there was an occasional burst of color. For example, there was a terrific red water color spatter shirt and scarf set, as well as an oversized orange mock neck top. The entire collection was incredibly handsome and featured on the best runway models, including Benjamin Jarvis, Baptiste Radufe, and “It Boy” newcomers Mats Van Snippenberg and Charlie James. And, we also live for the avant-garde orange/red streaks on the slicked back men’s hairstyles. Photography Alexander Thompson.
