S/S 2017
Hot off their 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination, Rochambeau design duo Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper gave us a Moroccan style theme for their Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper, the creative design duo behind New York City menswear label Rochambeau.
Rochambeau menswear designers Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler took inspiration from the gritty, wintery streets of New York City in their Fall/Winter 2015 collection. The set was adorned with huge blocks of ice that were filled with odds and ends, much like the garbage you find on the streets of NY, including cigarette butts, umbrellas, metrocards, and an old slice of pizza. The brilliant collection incorporated both modern, futuristic looks as well as militaristic looks. Garments made of sleek, high-tech fabrics were shown alongside heavy, tactical-looking combat wear. Design details included industrial belt straps and oversized pockets. And accessories were comprised of large flashlights and Timberland boots. We love that this design duo stays true to their Rochambeau masculine aesthetic, as well as they produce every piece of clothing in New York City. Photography Alexander Thompson.
Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper, the designers behind the menswear line Rochambeau, had their models hit the sea for Spring/Summer 2015. The duo’s presentation at New York City’s Milk Studios resembled a dock on the ocean, which fit well with the overall theme of their collection. Featured on UK supermodel Benjamin Jarvis, the fisherman sweater with matching shorts was a fresh take on a classic. There were some intriguing hoodies, a super fashionable purple rain slicker, a photo print of ocean waves and some little touches that lent to the nautical effect, like the fishing net vest on model Adam Kaszewski and some classic beach accessories like visors, wooden beaded necklaces, espadrilles and even submarine goggles. In fact, this show made us dream for summer again, just as the fall has begun. Photography Alexander Thompson.
The LOOK of Rochambeau Autumn/Winter 2014 menswear, designed by Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler, was “Fast and Furious!’ The black and white set centered around a wrecked automobile right smack in the middle of Milk Studios which created a very dramatic effect. This was luxurious, edgy streetwear at it’s best, in tones of black, grey and burgundy. Baseball caps and padded quilted coats were worn with spray painted high tops in day-glo colors. Accessories included racing googles and a very edgy protective face mask on one model. And we loved the one female model in the presentation which off-centered the entire menswear presentation. Cast with a mix of street and fashion models, this collection was very young, very fresh and very urban. Photography Alexander Thompson.
